Upgrade attempt from NE 6.0.10 to NE 7.0.0 hung

I did the upgrade last night and had the same thing happen to me (blogged here) Mine also seemed fine after the upgrade. After the upgrade was all finished, I did a restore to snapshot on the VM to try it again, but it didn't happen the second time around. Since I couldn't reproduce I didn't file a ...

Pause mail reception?

If you rename the domain, the messages will bounce and will go back to the sender.
What method are you using to transfer the messages? If you use imapsync, you can just run it again later and it will only transfer the messages that are new since the previous transfer.

Pause mail reception?

I'd suggest using the mailTransport method - yes they do get checked before mail delivery, but keep in mind that per user settings take precedence over the per domain settings.

Adding second NIC interface for DNS - How will this affect Zimbra?

IIRC, Zimbra will bind to all of the IP addresses on your box after the first start of Zimbra after adding said IP address. However, it will only route traffic out the default gateway for traffic that's outside of the second interface's subnet unless you've got some really fancy routing happening.

Adding new domain?

You can rename the domain and create an alias with the old domain to the new one.
As for renaming the server, that's a bit more involved, but can be done. [url=ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki[/url]

[SOLVED] How do I send email to fictional subdomain?

Heh, whoops. I told you the wrong zimbraMailTransport property. Should've been smtp:hylafax.mydomain.com:25. You can modify with:
zmprov md fax.mydomain.com zimbraMailTransport smtp:hylafax.mydomain.com:25
Editing the transport table will certainly work, but doing it via zmprov will be upgrade-safe.

[SOLVED] How do I send email to fictional subdomain?

No, it's not the same. When the domain exists locally, Zimbra will try to deliver to whatever host is in the zimbraMailTransport property (can also be done per-user).

[SOLVED] How do I send email to fictional subdomain?

Ah, if you're using your ISP as a relay, it's going to try to send through that. What's probably the easiest solution then is to create the fax.mydomain.com domain on your Zimbra box and set the zimbraMailTransport for that domain: zmprov cd fax.mydomain.com zimbraMailTransport hylafax.mydomain.com ...

[SOLVED] How do I send email to fictional subdomain?

I'm not familiar with Hylafax, but if all you need is for Zimbra to send emails to it, all you should need is an MX record for the domain fax.mydomain.com pointed at your Hylafax box.
