Search the forums for a thread titled "DNS in a nutshell" it will tell you what you need to know for a local DNS server.

Did you check in bugzilla for bug 10409, you should find what you need there. It helps to check the bug reports that have been raised for a problem.

Yes, that's almost right. I missed this earlier, you need to change the 127.0.0.1 to this:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

and you should be good to go.
