That's the maillog showing the symptom of the issue (being unable to connect to LDAP) but not the cause. Check for messages about the LDAP server (slapd) in /var/log/zimbra.log for issues about the LDAP server itself as to why it stops.

What OS/version did you have on the old and new machines? Unless the versions are identical I don't think you can just move it over.

You shouldn't ever have a reason (that I'm aware of) to edit the GAL directly. If you need to edit an alias, use the Zimbra Admin GUI (https://your-server:7071) and go to the account that has the alias.
