Oops, I failed to mention that you will need to restart the Zimbra Desktop service in order for any changes to localconfig.xml to take affect. Could you try that and let me know if you still get the error?

Try to include everything surrounding the line which contains the string "UID STORE error" indicating the failed command. If possible, search backwards from that line until you see the AUTHENTICATE or LOGIN command and try to include everything in between.

This is actually a limitation for all IMAP account types. For most IMAP servers it is very expensive to check for folder changes other than new messages.
