Right...but the cli is not your only option so try a different way if it's not working, like use an imap client(Thunderbird or whatever) and try to empty it that way. That's a lot of messages to delete at once so maybe that's why the cli is failing. You may have to delete them in sections.

How about setting the account up in Thunderbird?

I saw this in testing as well on Centos7 and reinstalling zimbra-patch with yum fixed the issue.

You need to use the private ip address in the local bind config for split dns, not the public.
