They're not hurting anything. If you don't know what you're doing, don't mess with master.cf.

This is a DNS change, mostly - set up DNS such that your existing server delivers mail to the zimbra box. On the zimbra side, just set the relay host to be your existing server. Search the wiki for split domain, that page will cover most of what you're looking for. Not sure what rSharpe was thinking...

wrong pw, use the zimbra_ldap_password

sounds like your install is missing some jar files. Could be from the upgrade, or something else - I assume you've tried restarting/rebooting?

try configuring tbird with the ip, not the hostname.

read the slapadd man page, tell it to use /opt/zimbra/conf/slapd.conf for it's config file.
