should i install mysql, the one coming with fedora core, or is that not necesary. my installation hangs on creating DB....

Mysql is included with the Zimbra install, so you should not install it manually.

it is then strange that even on the second attempt it hangs on Creating db... im installing on Fedora Core 4...
i did the etc/hosts thing

and the sym links i think

hey dudes, i waited a bit, and while it said creating db... it started giving errors like out of memory and a lot of garble-di-goob then when i rebooted the machine it now gives java.net,unknownHostException....
anybody knows what this means?

Well your install might not have finished. What type of machine is it? CPU? Memory? Disk space? You can also check the /tmp/install.log for details.
