loops back to myself
Hi all ,
I have a problem with Zimbra Open Source Edition ( zcs-4.5.0_GA_612.FC5.tgz) on Fedora Core 5. Only day the mail reports show loops back to myself.
for example :
Errors
2007-01-28 00:00:02 bounced (mail for sd-7314.dedibox.fr loops back to myself)
2007-01-28 01:00:03 bounced (mail for sd-7314.dedibox.fr loops back to myself)

2007-01-28 09:00:02 bounced (mail for sd-7314.dedibox.fr loops back to myself)
I have in my hosts file this configuration :
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
X.X.X.X sd-7314.dedibox.fr sd-7314
X.X.X.X famille-kindel.com mail
X.X.X.X ain-fr.com mailPAM
I have search on the forum , and they haven ' t find any answer !!!
Maybe , my MTA configuration is Bad or my DNS configuration ???
( My Web mail MTA hostname is Localhost)
Thanks

try to take out the relay host in the admin ui

I have the same problem.
Each time i send mail, i receive "relay=none, delay=0, status=bounced (mail for domain.com loops back to myself)". Before, i can send/receive nomally. I have the right /etc/hosts and DNS configuration.
I'm using OpenSource version 4.5.6.
Anyone can help me???
I had searched forum for the answers but the problem not resolved.
Thanks in advanced.

Me too.
But on the report, the loopback only occurs on certain hour. I suspect that it's because of the crontab's option: MAILTO=. I set the MAILTO to 'admin@mail.mydomain.com', but it still persists.
The relay option is set to 'localhost'. Should I empty it?
From postfix IRC channel:
[17:29] !loopback
[17:29] ari_stress: "loopback" : 'Mail loops back to myself' means that your Postfix wanted to send out the mail to the internet but then discovered that the DNS says your mail server should be responsible. Most likely you forgot to list your domain in mydestination or virtual_(alias|mailbox)_domains
Does it mean something?

Looks like the default setting of zimbra is:
mydestination = localhost
Hmm.. let me change it to:
mydestination = localhost $myhostname
and see what happens.

Additional info from postfix's docs:
Caution: in order to avoid mail delivery loops, you must list all hostnames of the machine, including $myhostname, and localhost.$mydomain.

Here is what my hosts file looks like and what I think is in the correct format:
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost
Internal IP server.domain.net server
The domain I use here is the internal domain but with zimbra I use the external domain .org / Should I put in a entry for the external domain as well, is that what is causing the issue?

You need a Split DNS set-up if you're behind a NAT router, do you have that?
