Undefined symbol: Perl_Istack_sp_ptr when upgrading to Ubunt to 14.04

Post by Fabio S. Schmidt »

Hi,
I am updating a installation with Ubuntu 10.04 and Zimbra 8.0.8 OSE. I have upgraded Ubuntu to 14.04 LTS and when I try to start Zimbra the message below is displayed:

/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /opt/zimbra/zimbramon/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi/auto/Socket/Socket.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Istack_sp_ptr

I have already installed the perl5.18 package.
Does anyone have any idea?

Hi Fabio,
Please try to launch the installation with -s option. So the process is:
./install.sh -s
Follow the steps
When finish, launch the regular installation:
./install.sh
Follow the steps and voilá.
Best regards.

This did not work for me.

After following the instructions once I reach the point to verify integrity of DB I still get the same error.

Any other suggestions ?

Hi Aderium,

Please provide us more information about your original Zimbra installation, the targer version, and the steps that tried to follow.

Best regards

Hi Aderium,

Please check if you are installing the correct Zimbra package for your distro and version. A colleague of mine had this issue recently and he was using the wrong package.

Appear that when going from Ubuntu 10.40 Zimbra 7.2.7 with an end goal of Ubuntu 14.04 Zimbra 8.6.x - that installing 8.0.9 for all three Ubuntu OSes is required. I tried to skip any Zimbra work on 12.04 and was left with this Perl_istack_sp_ptr issue.

Fortunately, this was on a practice VM - but losing the 2 hrs wasn't fun. Doubt this will line up, but ....

Z Z U Z U Z Z
7.2.x --> 8.0.9 --> 12.04 --> 8.0.9 --> 14.04 --> 8.0.9 --> 8.6
