Ubuntu 16.04 Installed on Zimbra 8.6 Server - Help
Hi,
Whilst I was in hospital my Zimbra 8.6 Ubuntu 14.04 server was upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 and zimbra crashed. If I try to start it I get "segmentation fault".
I hoped that I could install 8.7 to recover from problem.
The install script runs through the checking okay but when it gets to checking ldap it says the server is not running so stops.
Can anyone please advise me how to continue the upgrade to 8.7?
Thanks and kind regards,
jB

roll back.
You should have upgrade Zimbra first and only after upgrade Ubuntu.

Hi thanks for reply.
It is almost impossible to roll back an Ubuntu upgrade without serious hard work as many new programs are not reversible.
Kind regards

Hi britesc,
Would you mind to paste us the errors you are having now trying to install 8.7 on top of your Ubuntu16, try this:
That will install only the software, then after that run the installer again
Didn't you had any kind of snapshot or backup? Is this environment physical or virtual?
Best regards

When I was talking about roll back, it was with snapshot or any backups.
Maybe your Zimbra is installed on an other disk, so you will be able to reinstall the OS without deleting your Zimbra.

Hello,
Can you try to move as zimbra user and run ldap start? Then try the -s option, and then a complete upgrade?

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Installed on Zimbra 8.6 Server - Help
Hola Jorge,
I can start the ldap server and some of the other servers via the client, but even with ldap running the install.sh script cannot connect to the ldap server as it does not pickup the configuration file.
If I try an ldapsearch from root to ldapsearch -h hostname -p port it connects but wants a password which I do not know. But at least it proves the ldap server is there.
Somehow I think I have to -F nameofconfigfile but having read the install.sh and setup.pl there does not seem to be a place to hardcode this in.
Obviously we are going in the right direction and I very much appreciate your help.
Muchas gracias por tu ayuda.
Saludos cordiales,
Julian

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Installed on Zimbra 8.6 Server - Help
Hi,
I finally decided that the only option open to me was to reinstall Ubuntu 14.04 and recover the zimbra 8.6.0 backed up installation.
After the OS install I followed the various posts and did an ./install.sh -s to rebuild the software cache without creating a functioning installation. I then deleted the /opt/zimbra folder and restored my /opt/zimbra. Next I re-installed zimbra with ./install.sh, this time upgrading from 8.6.0 to 8.6.0.
Everything starts at boot up and when I run zmcontrol start, except, when I run zmcontrol status it says everything is running except stats, which is Stopped.
If I load the Administrator website it does not display. It just flashes and displays a blank page, but the URI shown in the address bar says it is loaded as does the page title.
If I load the User website it properly displays the login screen, but as soon as I press submit I get a message that "There is a Network Service Error" and nothing more is possible.
I have looked at the mailbox.log and it reports a 503 Proxy Error. On researching, the nearest I can get to a solution is to do with DosFilter and Time Outs that need the zmprov command to change various values.
Unfortunately when I try try to use zmprov from the command line to amend the suggested values, I get the same 503 error, so cannot use zmprov.
Is it possible to get a) a listing of all the values / keys from my system that zmprov manipulates and b) can I manually adjust values / keys without using zmprov? I think the problem maybe due to IP whitelisting etc. Or at least I can use that as a start point.
Any help gratefully received. Thank you.
Alternatively, if anyone knows how to recover my installation in a different, working way then please shout.
