Zimbra 8.8 and Zextras Suite when upgrading

Currently Running: Release 8.7.11_GA_1854.RHEL7_64_20170531151956 RHEL7_64 NETWORK edition.
Installed on: CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)
Can anyone describe the relationship / procedures to be used when Zimbra 8.7.11 is upgraded to 8.8 and Zextras Suite 2.4.12 is installed (2.6.1 won't install on 8.7.11).
1) Will the 8.8 installer recognize the configurations in Zextras Suite for backups, mobile sync and the like and simply use them?
2) Should Zxtras be removed somehow before the upgrade?
