Ah, yes, I think a duplicate jar file was my issue as well (not caused by the installer but me in that case).

Could you please file a bug at https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=ZCS so this doesn't get lost? If you don't have an account on Bugzilla I can file one for you.

And during my 'real' upgrade (previous attempt was on a throwaway replica), I'm getting similar duplicate jar but for more recent version:

Code: Select all

/opt/zimbra/lib/ext/com_zimbra_ssdb_ephemeral_store]# ls -l
total 720
-r--r--r--. 1 root root 111969 Nov 30 10:29 commons-pool2-2.4.2.jar
-r--r--r--. 1 root root 553762 Nov 30 10:29 jedis-2.9.0.jar
-r--r--r--. 1 root root 25166 May 31 2017 zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store-8.7.11.1496133981.jar
-r--r--r--. 1 root root 32924 Nov 30 10:29 zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store-8.8.6.1510867717.jar

@msquadrat - yes please, I don't have an account. Thanks.

@jorgedlcruz - if zimbra had shown any interest in this problem you might have had it fixed for this sixth supposed release of 8.8. I'm not the only one to have hit this issue looking back, others seem to have given up.

We had exactly the same problem, be it that the problem surfaced when upgrading from 8.8.6 latest patch to 8.8.7 (on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS).

There were two zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store jars

Code: Select all

root@mail:/opt/zimbra/lib/ext/com_zimbra_ssdb_ephemeral_store# ls
commons-pool2-2.4.2.jar jedis-2.9.0.jar zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store-8.7.11.1496133981.jar zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store-8.8.7.1519111774.jar
Removing the older one (zm-ssdb-ephemeral-store-8.7.11.1496133981.jar) and restarting zimbra using

Code: Select all

zmcontrol restart
was sufficient to get zimbra in the air again.

Thanks so much for posting this workaround; Would you mind opening a Bugzilla for this if you haven't already?

All the best,
Mark

If you look up a couple of posts @msquadrat raised a bug, which has been resolutely ignored since..

Thanks for the pointer; not sure I missed that.

I'll see if I can't get some attention to that bug, or at least a pointer in the next Release Notes.

All the best,
Mark

You should also add your comments and vote on that bug report.
