Clarification on upgrades after the new repository method has been created

Post by davidkillingsworth »

Since Zimbra 8.8.8, it seems that to install a patch, you just need to run your operating system package manager to get patches.

So from Zimbra 8.8.8 Patch 1 on Ubuntu Server, you run the following:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
And afterwards, I should be at Zimbra 8.8.8 Patch 6, since that's the last patch available for 8.8.8.

Do I have that correct?

Do I need to shut down zimbra server before running the

For major point releases, such as going from 8.8.8 Patch 6 to 8.8.9, you still need to download and run the installer from https://www.zimbra.com/downloads/zimbra-collaboration/

Is that correct?

Yes, you're correct. Patches can be installed by your package manager and ZCS upgrade still require the full package download.
