Upgrade path from 8.6.0

We have a multi-server install of Zimbra Network Edition - Proxy, 3 Mailbox Servers and a LDAP Server.
What would be the best path of upgrading? Can we install a new Proxy, LDAP and Mailbox server on the same domain and just start migrating mailbox servers? I don't want to do an in place migration as I'd like to update to the latest LTS release of Ubuntu.
