Unable to verify SSL certificate as zimbra user, root no problem

Post by jjanvier »

Hi,

I have a lot of problems gettin' my commercial ssl certificate installed on zimbra. (8.8.15 on ubuntu 16, fresh install)
I can't get it verified via the CLI tool zmcertmgr. It returns: error 2 at 2 depth lookup:unable to get issuer of certificate

So, troubleshooting this issue, I decided to use openssl to verify (on the same server) to check the certificate, since it is a wildcard cert and I also use it on the webserver without problems (gogetssl.com's PositiveSSL/Sectigo).
Openssl returned the same error, until by accident I ran it again as root user instead of the zimbra user. The verify returned OK.
So, thinking it is a permissions problem, I've already run zmfixperms -extended to fix any permissions issues, but without result.

Any ideas what the problem could be and how to fix? I also tried to use the admin UI to upload the certs, but it also bugs out with an unclear error.
Please help, it's much appreciated... I'm spending days on this issue now...

I also tried this until the verify step, still the same error message:
