Server Start Notification Message!!

Post by crazzzzy »

Hi I have Zimbra 8.0.2 FOSS installed in our office.
Everyday I am getting 30+ message for Server Start & Server Stop Notification though the service started 20 days ago.
It is annoying to get it thrice a day.
How do disable that notification.
mail zmconfigd[15955]: Service status change: mail.domainname.com stats changed from stopped to running
I am getting it for sasl, snmp, spell, mta.

Server Start Notification Message!!

Hi,

Setting smtp_notify to no in /opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml using zmlocalconfig and then "zmswatchctl restart" should disable the notifications (but of course you will not receive any mails if a service is stopped). See /opt/zimbra/conf/swatchrc and /opt/zimbra/conf/swatchrc.in. I have also noticed that I receive such notifications for services started or stopped several days ago (I am using ZCS 8.0.2).

Server Start Notification Message!!

I've investigated this issue (because it still continues) and:

- still getting email notification that zimbra services were restarted about 9 A.M - now its 6 P.M. (it really was, but the notifications are still coming every 3 hours - 5 emails at once)

- zimbra services seems working good, no errors in logs, zmcontrol status returns "running" for all services, they are not really being restarted when the emails came

- at 14:34:51 I restarted zmswatch (zmswatch.log was cleared then) and now it is:

[QUOTE]*** swatch version 3.2.3 (pid:3082) started at Thu Nov 14 14:34:51 CET 2013

Its strange that information that swatch started is from 14:34:51 CET 2013 but log entries have earlier time (08:58:29).

The same entries are being appended every (about) 3 hours when the notification emails are sent.

Above entries also exists in /var/log/zimbra.log but only once, like they should (no repeating).
Whole situation started happening after:

- adding new email domain

- adding some email address aliases (they are cross-domain i.e. addr: john@example.com, alias: tom@foo.com), don't know if it is proper

- restarting all zimbra servers (mailbox and smarthost)
Zimbra Version:

Completely have no idea how to fix.

I had this happening to me also, a year or 2 ago. I remember I had to change permissions on some folder, but, unfortunatly, can't remember the details. If I find my notes, I'll post back. Maybe the chown/chmod hint will jog someone with a better memory than me.
