Shared account sends like user

Hi,

In our company each of us have our own account and each department has an account.
In Zimbra, we configured each user with his/her own account + department and works, everybody can read the mail.

The problem comes when you try to send an email from a department account. The email is sent but the user is the user, not the deparment.

Any help or clue?

Hey iibarguren!

I think that knowing how you shared your accounts could help giving a better idea of the issue (e.g. are you working on an older Zimbra version and using Family Mailboxes, you shared the full account via CLI...).
In case it's a simple share, did you set up the appropriate Persona and the related properties to allow the users to send as the deparment?

Our zimbra versión is Versión 8.6.0_GA_1153.FOSS 15 de Dic 2014

Hello!

As mentioned in my reply to your other thread, using shares instead of external accounts will allow you to manage this kind of setup much more easily :)

Hi,
Best option for this is to use the Persona feature in Zimbra, a simple way to do it it's following this picture, each user must add the Department account, and mark the checkbox on the image

Ok!!

Now we can send and receive emails correctly but there is a small issue...

If I send an email like a deparment to a user if I go to the user inbox I can read the email and even answer it, the problem is that the sent message isn´t in the department "sent" folder, it is in my user "sent" folder!!

If you look at the account preferences for the department, the Primary Account Settings have these options for Delegate Send settings:
Save a copy of sent messages to my Sent folder
Save a copy of sent messages to delegate's Sent folder
Save a copy of sent messages to delegate's Sent folder and my Sent folder
Don't save a copy of sent messages

I supsect you can achieve what you want be selecting the best one of those settings.

The Shared Mailbox Toolkit will do all the steps above via a nicely integrated option in the admin UI,
its a crowd-funded effort that you can check out here:
