SMTP Authentication from mail clients (Thunderbird/Outlook)

Post by kondaiah »

Dear All,

We want to implement SMTP authentication for the mails send from the mail clients like Thunderbird and Outlook.

We are using Zimbra 8.6 (Single Server installation) running on RHEL 7.2

For all the outgoing mails from the Thunderbird and Outlook, without username and password zimbra mail server shall not accept mails from these clients.

Any help in this regard is appreciated..

Regards,
Kondaiah.

A simple Internet search for "zimbra thunderbird" finds https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Accessing_ ... hunderbird

Does this document not have what you need?

Dear,

Thank you for your prompt reply. What you are referring is accessing mail from the mail client. My requirement is to implement SMTP authentication at server level for the mail clients. User need to key in user name and password before sending mail and zimbra mail server should reject mail without SMTP authentication..

Thanks,
Kondaiah.

The document also shows how to configure the client to use the submission port to send email. By definition you must be authenticated to use the submission port.
