Restoring messages from old zimbra server?

Post by krynczak »

Greetings,

I would like to know if it is possible to recover the inboxes from our users of an old server.

Scenario:

Server1 had Zimbra installed (which is a virtual server) on /dev/sda (vhd 1), and the index/store for our users were stored on /dev/sdb (vhd 2).

A problem occured with the hypervisor and long story short, our centos machine (Server1) that was hosting Zimbra was corrupted in a way we couldn't repair. Those problems affected our backup as well.

Fortunately, the vhd2 (which stored the index/store folders with all those emails) was still intact.

So, we reinstalled Zimbra from the ground up to Server2, with a new /dev/sda (vhd 3), auto provisioned all our users again from our AD environment, and mounted our /dev/sdb (vhd2) on it and pointed the volume on zimbra, but we aren't able to see our emails from the old server.

So now we have:

the folder index and folder store (from the new installation)
the folder index.bkp and folder store.bkp (which has all of our emails from the dead server).

Is there any way we could link the old messages to the right users again?

[zimbra@email]$ zmcontrol -v
