Multiple COS after backup and restores

Hi,
In order to upgrade from Ubuntu 14 to 16 I backup'ed and did a clean installation of Zimbra FOSS having previously experienced the unwanted and unexpected.
This was also the easiest and quickest way I could find.
I have though now got a number of COS where I really only want a default and default external. Correct ???

Is it safe to just delete the old COS or do I need to do anything else. I do not want to loose data, connectivity, accounts etc.

deleting a cos will not delete your accounts. Hope this clears the confusion.
