Changing hosting provider

Post by m.issah »

Hello. Currently using Zimbra Open Source Edition. Looking for any documentation or experience in changing a hosting provider. I know I'll probably lose some emails but want to learn from you guys so as to cut my losses to a minimum.

Thanks

You should not be loosing any emails if the migration is done right .

To change hosting providers you can always go to Preferences > Import/Export in the Zimbra web UI and export your whole mailbox there.

The resulting tgz file can then be imported into the new system.

If that feature is not available to you, you can use a client like Thunderbird to connect to both your old and new provider’s mailboxes, and then just drag’n drop your email folders over.

If you have a lot of mail, or lots of mailboxes, you can use the tool IMAPSYNC to copy all the email over.

Hope that helps.
Mark
