Zimbra 8.8.9 and Cbpolicyd

Postby fs.schmidt » Sun Sep 02, 2018 1:53 am

Hello,

We are implementing Cbpolicyd with Zimbra 8.8.9 and we are facing some issues with the message counting behaviour.

- We have noticed that all the messages were being counted twice. We noticed that Zimbra was checking Policyd in smtpd_recipient_restrictions, smtpd_end_of_data_restrictions, and smtpd_sender_restrictions. According to the Policyd documentation, there is no need to add it in smtpd_sender_restrictions (https://wiki.policyd.org/installing). We have removed it and the message counting working.

- We've noticed that the quota is not working with SASLUsername. The field is not being registered in Policyd:

Code: Select all

2018/09/01-22:41:19 - 17317] [CORE] INFO: module=Quotas, mode=update, host=127.0.0.1, helo=mail.capitallinux.com.br, from=outroqualquer@capitallinux.com.br, to=admin@c                                                                     apitallinux.com.br, reason=quota_update, policy=6, quota=3, limit=4, track=SASLUsername:, counter=MessageCount, quota=5.48/10 (54.8%)

If we change to Sender:user@domain it works and this field is registered:

Code: Select all

[2018/09/01-22:05:53 - 4302] [CORE] INFO: module=Quotas, mode=update, host=127.0.0.1, helo=mail.capitallinux.com.br, from=fabio@capitallinux.com.br, to=fabio@capitallinux.com.br, reason=quota_update, policy=6, quota=3, limit=4, track=Sender:fabio@capitallinux.com.br, counter=MessageCount, quota=8.87/10 (88.7%)

What am I misunderstanding?

Kind regards
Fabio S. Schmidt

About the first issue, is an old problem between zimbra and policyd. I think it's caused by the double postfix pass (postfix-> amavis-> postfix). I've tested that in systems without the amavis module, it works correctly.

For what concerns the second issue, in 8.7.11 looks working fine:

Code: Select all

... track=SASLUsername:xxxxxx@yyyyy.zzz, counter=MessageCount, quota=3.54/50 (7.1%)

At this moment I have no 8.8.9 with active cbpolicyd to verify, maybe can be a 8.8.9 bug.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. We have an 8.7.11 with Policyd and the SASLUsername works well indeed. I will open a ticket with Zimbra to verify this behaviour with 8.8.9.

Kind regards.

Hi Fabio,

any update on this topic?

I had some policy working well with the SASLUsername on Zimbra 8.8.8, but I just saw that somewhen in the last two weeks, most probably after installing the latest patch 10, it stopped working.

Regards
Florian

Hi,

No update on this topic yet. I will open a ticket on Zimbra support and as soon as I have an update I will post it here.

Best regards.

As I know, Policyd is out of Zimbra support's scope...

It's not! - Only the "Web UI" is out of scope, but the functionality under the hood is integrated into ZCS and also supported in terms of support requests.

Kind regards
Florian
