Confused with delegations and ACLs

Post by pup_seba »

Hi,

I'm trying to fully understand how this works, but I'm not able to do it by just reading the documentation.

According to this: https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Enforcing_ ... ername_8.5
We should add exceptions to an exception database if we want users to have the ability to "send as" or "send of behalf" of someone. But I just tried it, and i did not needed my users to be in that database to be able to send as or send on behalf of.

For instance, as user "user1@mydomain.com", I was able to send as "user2@mydomain.com" only by configuring the delegation in the user2 preferences page (business as usual).

Also, in this document it is specified that zimbraAllowFromAddress are handled automatically and according to this other document https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/SendAs_sendOnBehalfOf, that attribute only applies for external accounts.

So, if I was able to succesfully apply that configuration, and I did not need to add any exception for delegations to work as usual at least with my internal users, and external accounts should be covered by zimbraAllowFromAddress, can anyone help me understand why that database is needed at all?

I ran the tests on a Release 8.8.9_GA_3019.RHEL7_64_20180809160254 RHEL7_64 NETWORK edition with NG modules activated.

Thanks!
