Sync Zimbra Database with physical /mailstore possible?

Question,

My /opt/zimbra folder got fubar'd and I had to restore from backup 24h earlier...

Now the ZImbra database is showing me mail from 24h ago but I have physical msg files in my /mailstore/store/0 from today...

Is there some way to SYNC all these msg files back into the Zimbra database or am I just hosed?

Since our deployment is rather small we ended up executing a find mtime command to determine which msg files were orphaned from the database and then script a zmmailbox loop to import the missing messages. zmmailbox is great for scripting single mass mailers but it's a HUGE PITA when were talking 1000+ of emails.... But it worked..

In hindsight we realize now it a mistake to restore the /opt/zimbra from backup but I would still like to know if there is some tool that can sync or rebuild physical mailstore to the logical datastore somehow...

How are you backing up /opt/zimbra?
