Can't see message bodies in mobile web interface

I recently did an update and reboot on an Ubuntu 18.04 Zimbra server.

After the reboot, we found that the mobile (and only the mobile) web interface didn't show lists of messages.
A restart of the Zimbra services later ("zmcontrol restart"), we can now see lists of messages in the inboxes:

However, when trying to view the message bodies, we see nothing.

This happens no matter what client is used (iPhone, Android), even desktop web clients have the same problem if they use the 'mobile' web interface by putting "/m/" after "zimbra" in the URL. ("https://zimbra.example.com/zimbra/m/zmain#conversation").

When using the desktop web browser (Chrome) I found that (currently) the AJAX client works as expected and I can browse the message bodies. The HTML interface on the desktop browser shows a partial message list, and the message "A client error occurred. Please try again."

Looking at the zimbra logs does not show any problems which appear to be correlated to this. I do not know what might be going wrong.

I do see these errors in the logs, but I see them in logs from prior to the updates, so I don't think they're related.

After a more methodical reexamination of the current state of things, I'll re-summarize the problem:
  • There is no difference in behavior between desktop and mobile clients (Chrome, Firefox, Samsung browser on Android were tested, each tested with all three interface types) using the Zimbra web interface.
  • AJAX interface works as expected - I can see the list of messages and the message bodies.
  • HTML interface gives a broken message list and can't view message bodies.
  • Mobile interface gives a list of messages but can't view message bodies.

"Deprecated" can mean a lot of different things. Does it mean that they *might* work but no more bugfixes will be forthcoming, or that it is likely to break randomly and won't be fixed?

I was running 8.8.12, and the Mobile interface was working... now it's not.

It seems really crappy that an ordinary "apt-get upgrade" would cause things to stop working entirely, so I find this strange.

Well, as far as I've known it for the past fifty years in the computer industry deprecated means that it's in the process of being replaced ny 'newer' ones and that upgrades may or may not work. There's no guarantee that my version i s correct and others may infer something else but here is the definition as I know it: https://techterms.com/definition/deprecated

As far as your problem is concerned, I've recently upgraded my system to 8.8.15 and all the interfaces are working as they should be in Firefox although I use Waterfox and they also work in that.

Thanks Phoenix, I appreciate the response very much.

I'm a bit unclear on how Zimbra releases work. The most recent version I see is 8.8.12: https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Zimbra_Releases

and that's the newest one I see packages for in apt. I see downloads for 8.8.15 here tho: https://zimbra.org/download/zimbra-collaboration
