25 loops back to myself error

all of a sudden it started, out of nowhere

zimbra is 1.1.1.1
email relay is 1.1.1.2 on the same lan

both of them have 1:1 nat to a dedicated public ip

2 days ago this started : :25 loops back to myself error
this happens on every email sent. needless to say that the fqdn or ip of the relay, is not the same as the zimbra
the mx also refers to the relay, not the zimbra

what am i missing here? where to look?

yeah i did search. and i found a lot of suggestions, none worked
