Mail storage value

Post by Screetch »

Hi all,
I've installed a Zimbra appliance version 6.0.7.341 with 21 Gb of mail storage.

I have loaded in 4 mailbox a total of 5,4 Gb but the value in the status label of mail storage is 6/21GB mail storage free (28%).

I also prepare a default profile with 3 Gb
I don't undersand how Zimbra calculated this space value. thanks in advance

This looks correct in my eyes.

You have 5,4G of data that you uploaded. This is the 6G of 21GB that you see. There is a bit of overhead that Zimbra uses for indexing and other smart stuff. This is why you see 6 and not 5,4. This is normal.
The default profile you created with a 3 Gb quota? is not shown since there is probably not any data inside this account. Zimbra does not pre allocate mailbox space on the drive.
Hope this helps :)

from administration guide...
Disk Space Usage

The Status tab shows the amount of free storage space remaining on the disk.

The storage space is used to save the content of users’ accounts. You should

regularly monitor the disk capacity and when disks reach the 85% full

threshold, you should plan to add additional disk space.
someone can help me to know how is it possible ?

thanks

Take a look at the total size of the /opt/zimbra/backup folder. With the current method Zimbra uses all backups are stored there with minimal compression for speed. For example, I have roughly 300gb mail and files in my store folder, but 800gb in backups. To solve this I added a 1tb RAID with larger slower SATA drives, rather than faster SAS, and mounted that RAID at the /opt/zimbra/backup. It was simple and also allowed me to use the HSM function as well.
