Problem with tags on recurring appointments

Post by kenh248 »

Greetings,
We're on 5.0.11_GA_2695.UBUNTU8_64 UBUNTU8_64 NETWORK edition.
I have a user who noticed what appears to be a bug with the calendar so I wanted to run it by here. Here's the scenario:
- Create a recurring event in the calendar

- Right-click on one event in the series and select "Instance...Tag Appointment"

- Add an existing tag or create a new tag

- Zimbra changes/adds tag for the entire series instead of just the instance.
The same thing happens if you open just an instance in a series and add notes or make any changes.
--edit--

I just checked and wanted to clarify that modifying an instance in a series takes that instance *out* of the series (which makes sense) but adding/changing tags on an instance keeps it in the series but changes the entire series.

--edit--

Is this a bug or normal behavior?

What I want to know is how the heck this can still be a bug from 2009 now in V8?

Good question, what's the bugzilla number for this bug? Was a bug report ever filed? If there never was a bug report filed then you have the answer to your question, do you fancy filing a bug report for it?

Hi,

This bug is still present in V8.6. The bug might never have been reported.
What can I do to get it fixed?

Thank you.

The answer in my previous post is still valid. :) If a bug isn't reported in bugzilla it won't get the attention of the developers.

The way tags are implemented, they are stored on an individual item in a folder.
The way recurrences are implemented, all instances and exceptions are still mapped to an individual item in a folder.

It is possible to change behavior to make tags apply to only an instance but it would be a lot of work and increase complexity of how we handle tags significantly.

As Phoenix said, without a bug in Bugzilla this is extremely unlikely to get addressed. If it is important to you, add a bug and try and encourage other people who think it is important to vote for it.
