Mass remove old emails from external account

Good Day,

One of our users used zimbra to download from an external account to their mail account. However, they had ticked leave messages on server on the accounts preferences page on Zimbra. That user has now changed it to remove emails after downloading, however all the old emails are still there. Is there a way I can make Zimbra make sure those messages have been downloaded and then delete the old emails from the external account.
