Hi all,
as it took me 1.5 days to track a strange Blackberry Activation problem with ZCB 7.0.1 (ZCS 7.0.1, BES Express 5.0.2, Win 2k8 ), I want to share my results...
If the IE on the machine that hosts the BES has a webproxy configured for connections to the internet, theses proxy settings are inherited by the ZCB Mailprofiles (BlackBerryServer / BlackBerryServer_MailStoreProfile) even though you have explicitly checked the "no proxy" radio button during the Mailprofile configuration dialog. You can find the evidence of the proxy in the ZCB Logs:
23-03-2011 09:35:39.185 [16704]: DEBUG:Zimbra::Rpc::Connection::ResolveProxyInfoFromIESettings - IE proxy settings:
23-03-2011 09:35:39.185 [16704]: DEBUG:Zimbra::Rpc::Connection::ResolveProxyInfoFromIESettings - proxyCfg.fAutoDetect: '0'
23-03-2011 09:35:39.185 [16704]: DEBUG:Zimbra::Rpc::Connection::ResolveProxyInfoFromIESettings - proxyCfg.lpszAutoConfigUrl: '(null)'
23-03-2011 09:35:39.185 [16704]: DEBUG:Zimbra::Rpc::Connection::ResolveProxyInfoFromIESettings - proxyCfg.lpszProxy: ':'
23-03-2011 09:35:39.185 [16704]: DEBUG:Zimbra::Rpc::Connection::ResolveProxyInfoFromIESettings - proxyCfg.lpszProxyBypass: ''
There is a quite easy workaround: change the IE Proxy settings (no proxy / direct connection to the internet) and reboot the BES.
I have opened a bugreport:

[SOLVED] ZCB uses IE proxy settings although "no proxy" configured in Mail
