2 Server addresses for Desktop and Toster

Post by chh »

Hi,
I would like to use Zimbra Desktop and Toaster on my Laptop.

My problem is that I address Zimbra differently when on the road/at home or in the office.
In the office it is zimbra.domain.com

remote it is a dyndns.biz address
Any way to do use both addresses?
A workaround would be to use VPN but this cannot be used everywhere, so I would prefer another solution.
Thanks

The answer is to use a publicly registered domain name on an external DNS server and then use a Split DNS on your internal server with the same domain name. Why do you use different addresses based on whether you're in the office or on the road?

Hi,
we have a dynamic IP address so we have to use dyndns for external access (http(s) access is forwarded to our Zimbra server). The Zimbra server itself only has a internal IP.

So I do not think that your advice would help.
Thanks anyway

Just to clarify what was stated. You would have to configure a DNS server for use internally. With this server you will point your dynsdns name to your internal IP.

Hi,

just curious, I install Toaster in my Windows laptop. But after shutdown or restart it, I have to re run again the toaster. Is there anyway for it to be automated?
