Pidgin loses connection after update to 8.8.8

I've updatet to 8.8.8 and now my pidign clients disconnect from the server after a couple of minutes (ping timeout).
They automatically reconnect after a short while, but it's annoying to see buddys go offline and online all the time.

Another server with the same setup but version 8.8.6 works well.
I haven't found anythin in the logfiles.
This does not affect the chatclient in the webgui.

Is this known to anybody, maybe fixed in the patches ?

Thanks
Heiko

First step is apply Patch 2 (the latest at this writing) to your 8.8.8 system, if only to get the security fixes. Then you can retest.

All the best,
Mark

I'm having the same issue with all users. The part that is interesting is its any external XMPP client(Pidgin/Miranda) and all of them for that user will disconnect at the same time. The same goes for reconnecting at the same time. This install is also using LDAP Auth and Zimbra Auth for NextCloud. I think that would be the only other information that would be of interest to this issue. The logs are the same just closed XMPP connection but i'm not sure if chat has debug logging flag anyhere.

Version:Zimbra 8.8.8_GA_2031

Small update I forgot to mention we switched handful of users to swift chat client as it doesn't have the safety methods in place and does a instant reconnect. So users don't notice the outage but the zimbra server is getting connection spammed. Our server seems to handle this ok for now until there is a fix but user experience was the most important.

I'm hoping their would be an update to this as this is a sign something with the chat server is having issues. Does anyone else have an update? I've gone through the patch notes but nothing.

I am using the version : Release 8.8.9_GA_2055.RHEL7_64_20180703080917 RHEL7_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.9_P1.

and the same problem for me as well when I configure zimbra chat in XMPP client pidgin.

Any solution for this disconnection and re-connection ?

Regards

I have given up hope that Zimbra cares about this issue. Nobody from Zimbra has even acknowledged that there is any kind of issue for months. I keep secretly hoping that it will just get magically "fixed" in each version/patch that comes out but no dice.
