This is one of the *most* debated behaviors. [mention:484409003c6d4a5c9a901820459aeda9:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05], I agree, you shouldn't receive notifications emails for posts you write. However, we have had many people over the years that have migrated from other systems that feel 100% the opposite! They want to receive the email notification for their own posts too. I don't know why. We've changed this several times. I want to do some more work on the whole of email notifications - maybe only receive notifications of the first post. Once you visit the thread you would receive another (only 1) notification when a new post was made. Rather than getting emails for every single post (unless you opt in to). Thoughts?

Hi Rob!

What about just letting the user decide in the settings? Just a checkbox "Receive notifications of my own posts"?

To sum this up, I would like to have the following features:

* Subscribe to a forum and receive the first post of a new thread in that forum

* Subscribe to replies on a thread (with a default subscription on threads, that I write myself)

* Subscribe to likes, stars and such on my own posts

* Subscribe to the whole bunch of social features (like followers, likes, etc.) for my own profile

Kind regards

Dennis

I think you should receive mail notifications about threads you subscribe or participate.. and configurable per user/member.
That will reduce some emails about posts you have no interest at all, of course, if you are an active forum member then you read and decide when and where you participate.
