Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 2 is here

Post by fnoopdogg »

Good to see frequent updates and improvements. After getting used to them, I kind of like the patching rather than full point releases as they're a lot faster and less risky. And I like that this release doesn't have a picture of a band-aid :)

Hi fnoopdogg,

Bad icon in the other image, I will never use it again then :) Glad to hear your feedback. The Patches are really agile.

Let us know if you find any bug in our Environment.

Best regards.

Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 2 is here

Post by simon1976 »

Hi Jorge

I've just downloaded and deployed the FOSS patch 2 to my personal server and my server's summary page now shows 8.6.0_GA_1169.NETWORK whereas before it said 8.6.0_GA_1153.FOSS. I downloaded the files on both the NETWORK and FOSS (https://files.zimbra.com/downloads/8.6. ... A_1169.tgz) pages and they are identical. Is this by design? Have I got a free upgrade now? I don't want to deploy this patch to my production work servers if it poses a risk.

How do I fix this?

Thanks

Simon

No, you haven't got a free upgrade. [;)] Take a look at P6 of the Release Notes (the Note at the bottom).

Ok. Thanks - I missed that in the release notes. That is a little bit misleading though and might cause confusion going forward? I am sure I am not the only person who did not see it in the release notes.

My server is still on the FOSS version :D - Release 8.6.0.GA.1153.UBUNTU14.64 UBUNTU14_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.6.0_P2

As phoenix said, it's just like this by design, this will be fixed when you install the next Major Release, for your proper version of course (FOSS). So, no worries, everything will work like usual.

Totally ridiculous !

_YET AGAIN_ completely you're breaking package database consistency.

IDS'es will go to red alert.

You seriously expect decent GNU/Linux operators to run strange "upgrader" scripts *manually*,

instead of just running an simple apt/yum upgrade (or let it run automatically via cron).

The issue isn't new - I'm talking about that for several *years* now - completely useless,

as talking to a cow. To me, it's now pretty clear: you folks have absolutely no idea how

decent GNU/Linux operating works. Well, looking at the source code - not even how robust

building works.

I simply can't take you guys seriously.

Hi Enrico, I've passed your feedback to the team again, I'm not sure if you filled a bug about this in the past, I couldn't find it in Bugzilla, can you please point me if exists?

Best regards.
