Before Installing the Patch

Before installing the patch, consider the following:

  • Zimbra Collaboration patches can be found at https://www.zimbra.com/downloads/zimbra-collaboration

  • Patches are delivered as a TGZ file and are cumulative.

  • A full backup should be performed before any patch is applied. There is no automated roll-backmechanism.

  • Zimlet patches can include removing existing Zimlets and redeploying the patched Zimlet.

  • Only files or Zimlets associated with installed packages will be installed from the patch.

  • Switch to user zimbra before using ZCS CLI commands.

Known Issues when installing the 8.6.0 Patch3

Known issues when installing the 8.6.0 Patch3 include the following exceptions:

  • Bug 99188 - Patch installer is unable to flush Zimlet cache

The patch installer attempts to flush the Zimlet cache even if the mailboxd service is shutdown. The exception can be ignored and patch installation will continue as expected.

...

  • Bug 90678 - GetMailQueueInfoRequest does not work on rolling upgrade setup

The admin console tries to fetch MTA queue info from non-MTA hosts which can lead to this exception in mailbox.log. The exception does not negatively impact the ZCS installation and can be ignored.

Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 3 is here

Postby MKC » Thu Jul 16, 2015 9:32 am

As with the two previous patches, the patch crashes on my server. Fortunately, it seems to die before any partial update is performed.

Are there any plans to look into this?

./installPatch.sh: line 35: 11596 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) perl bin/zmpatch.pl --config conf/zmpatch.xml --verbose $1

Hi there,

Another user suggested the following when we saw this before. Can you please give this a try and get back to us with results?

You probably have some Perl module installed which other people don't have.

You could try to run the patch script with tracing and see where it crashes:

apt-get install libdevel-trace-perl

perl -d:Trace bin/zmpatch.pl --config conf/zmpatch.xml --verbose | tee /tmp/trace.log 2>&1

I had tried this at the time, but no output is generated at all.

user@server:~/Downloads/zcs-patch-8.6.0_GA_1178$ sudo ./installPatch.sh
./installPatch.sh: line 35:  9487 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) perl -d:Trace bin/zmpatch.pl --config conf/zmpatch.xml --verbose $1
