Zimbra Desktop abandoned (again)

Post by phoenix »

The text of an announcement on the Zimbra Support Portal was sent to me recently and I'm posting the full text here as Synacor don't seem to bother keeping their forum users informed:

Zimbra Desktop version 7.3.1 is an open source product, and the code is now maintained by the community. The Zimbra Development team will have limited interaction with the future maintenance of the code. Support will make the best effort and provide Technical Guidance to troubleshoot issues for customers who have a support contract. Zimbra Desktop users are welcome to obtain the code from the GitHub repository to make contributions with fixing bugs and adding enhancements. You can obtain the code from the following link:

https://github.com/Zimbra/zd-full

Zimbra Desktop Technical Guidance means that Support services will provide questions and answers and basic troubleshooting of the latest release of Zimbra Desktop. All bugs and enhancements will need to be presented and addressed by the Desktop community.
It's not clear from that announcement which 'community' is responsible for supporting or developing the product any further, make of the announcement what you will.
Regards

Bill
