Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 4 is here

Post by NoDough »

I know I'm late to the party here, but could the issue have been that MKC was failing to do a full root login.  Specifically, the command issued was...
sudo su
...and probably should have been...
sudo su -
...Just a thought.  Hope it helps.

[mention:a6196357658b4854bb7c27739d3adf43:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] always good to try for your self! Just create a /usr/local/bin/perl then su in both ways... I believe you'll find it doesn't matter as most linux distributions seem to like to put /usr/local/bin in your path before /usr/bin/, etc. (see also /etc/environment and /etc/login.defs - at least on Ubuntu).

Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 4 is here

Recently I had a Zimbra Support suggest I install this patch on a proxy/ldap/mta server. That is a contradiction to what another told me, and I was under the impression that only mail stores received the patch. Since there is no mailboxd running on that server, the install procedure doesn't really reference (it says to stop and restart mailboxd). Does this patch need to be installed?

In the past, most of our patches only needed to be installed on mailbox nodes. In 8.6, we've patched some additional things that encompass other nodes as well, so it's recommended install the patch on all nodes. The patcher does look at what is installed on the system, and only copies files that apply to that type of node, so if it's not a mailbox node, it won't deploy files that only affect mailboxd. After installing the patch, I'd recommend doing a zmcontrol restart to make sure everything restarts, to make sure nothing is missed.

Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 Patch 4 is here

I just installed the patch on 8.6.0 Open Source Edition, and noticed afterwards that the version string has changed, from "8.6.0_GA_1153 20141215195814 20141215-2000 FOSS" to "8.6.0_GA_1182 20150907121026 20150907-1212 NETWORK".

I verified that I downloaded the correct file, actually it seems that the patch files are identical for Network and OSS edition (I used the patch located on https://www.zimbra.com/downloads/zimbra ... pen-source).

Do I have to be worried now that this might screw up the installation in the long run, or is everything fine? (cannot see any issues so far, but I did a snapshot before installing the patch of course; reverting to this snapshot however means also losing all delivered incoming mails since then)

Thanks, Andres

This is normal and is because we build the patch against the NE build. We only offer one download, which applies to both NE and FOSS. In the future, when repackaging is complete, this will be easier and the version won't change in this way.
