Large message count - how to research?

Looking at the Zimbra Admin console -> Monitor -> Message Count -> Last 48 hours I see a huge spike in email count @ 11AM (over 1800 messages). I would expect to see <100 messages. How can I determine where these are coming from - To,From, possibly the PC, etc?

How about an analysis of your log files?

I did and didn't find anything. I suspect it is a bug in the message count display program. That happens to be about the time a backup occurs.
