Mailscanner

Post by 15526micke »

I'm using sendmail with MailScanner right now. I'm very happy with MailScanner and I like to countinue to use it.
Q1. Can I use MailScanner with Zimbra?
Q2. I'd like to use mysql to other things as well, is that any problem with that?

Mailscanner may or may not work with postfix - I've never tried it.
Q2 has been covered in the forums before - please search the forums for that information.

Mailscanner should *not* be used with postfix - it manipulates spools directly and is known to lose data under certain conditions. search the postfix lists for wietse's vitriol on the matter.

Im gonna ask you guys to take a look at MailScanner again. The original versions of MailScanner did behave badly... the most recent versions are much better about playing with the postfix spools.

MailScanner isn't really necessary as Zimbra has SpamAssassin and DSPAM installed which do as good a job (and in my opinion, better) scanning incoming mail than MailScanner. Zimbra is, after all, Open Source and you could always try and install it yourself.

I use Zimbra now but used to have a mailscanner / mailwatch implentation.
I miss the mailwatch interface.
The best way is to set up mailscanner on a different physical or virtual server

and have it direct mail to the zimbra server after scanning.
