Automatic configuration for iOS devices

I'm excited to check out the new automatic iOS configuration feature in 8.8.9, so I upgraded to 8.8.10. I cannot find any documentation on how to configure this new feature. Can someone point me in the right direction? Automatic configuration for synchronization with iOS devices - Administrators hav...

What are you using for MDM?

What is everyone using for Mobile Device Management? We are scoping out options. We had a simple demo from AirWatch, but they couldn't tell us any more on how it integrates with Zimbra other than "yes, we were told it works." If anyone is using AirWatch, or anything else, I am looking for ...

Zimbra 8.5 Beta with always-on Phase 1

I don't think they are quite ready for always on yet. They have quite a bit of work to do.
As noted in this blog post, Phase 1 looks like it's mostly under-the-hood stuff which has no affect on administation or end-user.

Zimbra Multi-tennancy

Yes, Zimbra supports those requirements. Multi-tenancy means that you can set up multiple domains and they can be managed individually without seeing each other. You can still share data between the domains without an issue. Zimbra can run in multi-server set up. LDAP servers will have all data for ...

Issues with outbound SMTP

outbound.mailhop.org on port 465 uses SSL, and Zimbra's postfix doesn't account for that in a relay.
I believe you may find information on how to tweak it to use SSL with the relay in the wiki.

Making Zimbra open "client (multi-tenant) ready"

The biggest thing to get the open source edition ready to host email is to create an interface to allow users to manage their accounts (add, delete, etc.). You can create a webapp and use the Zimbra API under the hood to preform those actions. Other than that, the open source edition will work in a ...

Automating some user tasks: forwarding, away/vacation etc

You're on the right track. Just set up some database on the side that holds the information about what needs to be done when, and make a script that looks at that database for actionable items and act on them.

Open Souce edition backup advise

Best recommendation is to store the /opt/zimbra partition on an LVM volume. Then to backup, shut down the server, make a snapshot of the volume, and start the server. You can then rsync the consistent snapshot or use another method to back that up to your backup location. There are several example s...

Mails are stored on Server

I assume you are using POP to download the emails then. You will need to make sure that Outlook is set up to delete emails from the server after they are POP'ed. You will then want to adjust the trash time in the Class of Services so that emails are not retained in the trash. You will also want to e...

Migrating mailboxes more than once.

If I recall, the migration process was updated in 8.0.x so that it would do the bulk of the migration while still allowing the account to remain active. Then it would do a catch-up sync at the end of the process after it puts the mailbox in maintenance mode, which would interrupt the mailbox for a s...
