Zimbra to Zimbra Migration Failure [SOLVED]
Yeah, I think the backslashes were a subconscious keystroke to (unnecessarily) escape the ampersand on the command line. I did it multiple times too: I completely reinstalled the VM once and started again. Fool, eh? Removing the errant blobs seems to have caused no ill. zmblobchk removed them from q...

Zimbra to Zimbra Migration Failure [SOLVED]
AH, FOUND WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE ANSWER TO MY SECOND QUESTION. I'LL QUOTE IT HERE IN CASE OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM LATER: DELETE THE EXTRANEOUS BLOBS RUN ZMBLOBCHK --MISSING-BLOB-DELETE-ITEM --NO-EXPORT START TO UPDATE ELSEWHERE TAKE A FULL BACKUP FIRST, OF COURSE, IF THIS IS NOT A TEST ENVIRONMEN...

Zimbra to Zimbra Migration Failure [SOLVED]
Thankyou. Such a simple mistake too - I'm not sure where the double escapement (quotes and slash) came from as it isn't there in the original reference pages I cribbed from. First quick test shows it certainly seems to work as expected with your correction. I have located where the data went previou...

Zimbra to Zimbra Migration Failure [SOLVED]
I've been tasked with updating an old, fairly small, Zimbra install ("Release 6.0.6_GA_2324.DEBIAN4.0 DEBIAN4.0 FOSS edition") to the latest release. As the machine needs a full OS refresh (that Debian release is not supported any more, and Debian is dropping out of your supported OS list ...

Filesystem choice for fresh install: ext3 or ext4
Aye, I went with ext3 in the end on the basis that it has worked perfectly on other installs and I have no specific reason to go for ext4 (for our userbase size the performance differences are going to be minimal).

Filesystem choice for fresh install: ext3 or ext4
[quote user="lytledd"]This allows the use of XFS Snapshots and it in turn does an XFS Freeze. This is how I do my nightly backups on a live system.[/QUOTE] I use LVM snapshots (which are conveniently filesystem agnostic) for this. The server is only down for the length of time to do down, ...

Filesystem choice for fresh install: ext3 or ext4
I am creating a fresh install for Zimbra 7.x on Ubuntu 10.04. When ext4 first became common there were concerns in some circles regarding greater data-loss risk in some circumstances (like a power-out) due to changes in default sync behaviours and such, so many recommended staying with ext3 for the ...

Recommended Upgrade Path for 5.0.14->6.0.3
Thanks for the very quick reply. Not only will I have a full backup, I'll test that backup before proceeding - I have a VM in which the same Zimbra release is installed, which I occasionally restore the latest daily backup into to test things are well (I must get around to trying to automate that......

Recommended Upgrade Path for 5.0.14->6.0.3
I've just realised how out of date we've allowed our Zimbra installs to get, so need to plan an upgrade. My intention it to go to the latest 5.0.x version, leave things for a short while to make sure no problems have crept in, then update to the latest 6.0.x. I have two simple and very similar quest...

Upgrade ETCH 6.0.2 to Lenny 32bit
The "new install and rsync from backup copy" linked above is the technique I would use, though I have not yet done this. Upgrading my Etch installs to Lenny is something I have yet to find time to do, as it isn't urgent until Etch comes close to losing its "old stable" status and...
