Re: Blocking of IP addresses trying to login

Great hint. Fail2ban looks very promising. I'll give it a try.

Blocking of IP addresses trying to login

I regularly face situations where some accounts change into a lockout mode due to external servers trying to login guessing passwords. While the lockout prevents the attacker to run many password attempts, the affected user is frustrated as he is not able to login anymore until his account is unlock...

Account lockout

Since a couple of weeks, one of my accounts regularly gets locked out. This is what I find in the logfiles (username, hostname and IP address obfuscated): content of audit.log: 2018-11-22 08:59:47,848 INFO [qtp66233253-35672:https:https://myserver.com:7073/service/admin/soap/] [name=user@myserver.co...

18.04.1 is out since July 25, 2018 - it would be great if this LTS version will become supported soon

Zimbra 8.7.7 fast growing gc.log

Hi, I upgraded from 8.6 to 8.7.7 on Ubuntu 14. Since the upgrade, I notice a fast growing /opt/zimbra/log/gc.log file. The garbage collector reports every 2 seconds a line with stats. Within 48 hours, the gc.log file already became 2.2 MB in size. It does not seem to autorotate. So if not monitored ...

Certificate error for iCal subscription

Hi, I use a service from tripit.com which offers iCal subscription. For a long time, this worked fine; likely until I upgraded to 8.6. Currently, I receive error messages when trying to reload the iCal content. Looking into the file mailbox.log, the reason is shown in a java stack trace indicating a...

8.6 Upgrade broke CardDav - repair?

I migrated from 8.0.9 on Ubuntu 10.04 to 8.6 P6 on a fresh setup Ubuntu 14.4. Before doing the final migration, I did a test migration which worked fine (I still have this test server available). After the final migration, too late, I realized that there are now issues with CardDAV: The result is th...

Duplicate contacts through CardDav interface

Since I upgraded to 8.0.1, I noticed that some (only some) contacts suddenly appear between 80 and 93 times per address in my address book. It only affects one account (yet) and within this account, just 5 addresses that all have been created recently. I once deleted the duplicate entries. 2 days la...
