you could use zmmailbox with getAllFolders on your accounts and see how many items are in the appointment-type folders, any non-zero value should indicate the calendar is being used for example [zimbra@mail ~]$ zmmailbox -z -m user@domain.tld getAllFolders Id View Unread Msg Count Path ---------- --...

There's a timezone setting in each domain, each COS and each user's preferences. Make sure they're all aligned.
This could be the consequence of skipping this parameter when your ZCS was first set-up.

Ok. I don't think that there's a way to automatically do this, though I admit it would be a cool feature to have. Perhaps it can be done via a Zimlet, I don't really know. One thing you can do "in the meantime" is, using ZCS7, you can create the appointments and choose the "Save"...
