we are using shibboleth at our company and i am authenticating over another vhost and preauth in zimbra. works very well.

please vote here and tell them that the bug is NOT fixed. zimbra/vmware is ignoring this. we do have the same problem

you have to wait for the next release. smime was targeted for 7.1.5.

sure your advice is the better one. my working collegue, that set the password right but did configure secure ldap off on the ldap master. gives the same error message "Not Verified"

should be no problem at all. we are running a similar setup with 2 balanced frontends, 3 backends and 1 ldap master. 3 backends and the ldapmaster do have private addresses. you should look if the frontends can reach the backends with all needed ports (route lookup, proxy ports)
