Linking old server mailboxes to new server (without migrating data)?
My organization will be upgrading from Zimbra 8.5 to 10 and originally we were planning to migrate all data from the old server to the new one using rsync. However the amount of data that users have makes this approach quite arduous. We're now considering starting from scratch with the new server. W...

zmlocalconfig Settings During Migration
The Zimbra migration guide ( https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Steps_To_Rebuild_ZCS_Server#.28C.29_Rebuild_New_Server_using_Rsync_migration_steps ) says to "change any settings on the new server to match the configuration on the original server." I'm looking at both zmlocalconfig.xml files on t...

Best Guide for Rsync Migration?
I've found two different guides for migrating Zimbra from one server to another using rsync. Which one of these is most accurate? https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/ZCS_to_ZCS_rsync_Migration https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Steps_To_Rebuild_ZCS_Server#.28C.29_Rebuild_New_Server_using_Rsync_migration_steps Th...

Ok good to know, thank you.ghen wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 7:56 am The passwords in localconfig need to match the passwords provisioned in LDAP, otherwise the respective components won't be able to authenticate.
So update localconfig on the new server at the time you are copying old LDAP data to the new server, to keep things in sync.

Re: LDAP Error - Invalid Credentials
Then only perform those next steps once you're actually migrating. Do I need to migrate the LDAP data from the old server before changing the related passwords on the new server? The guide (https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Steps_To_Rebuild_ZCS_Server#.28C.29_Rebuild_New_Server_using_Rsync_migration_ste...

Re: LDAP Error - Invalid Credentials
In that scenario you also imported the LDAP directory (including passwords) from the old server into the new one, so you should use the old passwords everywhere. But you're starting from a fresh LDAP server, with fresh passwords? Yes, so I'm just performing a fresh install of 8.5 on a new server in...

Re: LDAP Error - Invalid Credentials
I'm confused then; what's the status of the original server? Sorry for any confusion. The old server is our current production server. We will eventually be migrating to the new server that I'm setting up now. OK, so that's good then. You have a good place to start from. I'm guessing/hoping that yo...

Re: LDAP Error - Invalid Credentials
Did you modify /opt/zimbra/conf.localconfig.xml manually? That means you changed the LDAP passwords in Zimbra's utilities, bot not in LDAP itself? If so, you should revert that, and use /opt/zimbra/bin/zmldappasswd instead, to change passwords e2e in both localconfig and in LDAP. Yes, I changed the...
