"read-only" means that external users can access the Briefcase and download files. They can't upload files to the Briefcase, though.
When you share the Briefcase, in the sharing dialog, it will show you what URL to use in the external WebDAV / HTTP clients to access the Briefcase.

Just curious, if you are willing to pay for hosted apps via Google ... why you didn't consider paying for hosted apps via Zimbra. There are several third-party companies that provide hosted Zimbra, where they manage the installs and hardware, and you just manage the CoS setups ... just like with Goo...

Just because you are given the option in the installer, doesn't mean it's correct to do it. :) For a small install with a beefy server, running everything on one box is doable. However, get above a couple dozen users, sending a couple hundred messages a day, all logged into the web client for 8 hour...

Anyone tried installing OperaMini on an iPad and using that to access Zimbra?
OperaMini works extremely well on my crappy non-smartphone, using the mobile and html interfaces.
