Just tried turning dns lookups off as well ... but still the same problem, I guess zimbra sees that it has "domain.com" locally and then can't find someone@domain.com locally so won't let me send.

yeah it just said scriptlet failed, exit status 1
...but it's past that bit now (it was something in hosts it seemed not to like I think)

yep I get the same on a fresh install of redhat enterprise 4 and a fresh install of zimbra network 3.0.1 GA 160 REHEL4
Can't see anything useful in the logs either :/
