It's the connection from zmmailbox to tomcat. This is a mailbox node? What do you see if you run zmmailbox with the "--debug" option?

It is possible. If there is a problem with the updated libcurl, we should see errors in the logs. Are there stacktraces in /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log that correspond to the failed login attempts?

I wouldn't worry unless your users are checking out the forums; nobody else can resolve "ubuntu-srv2.thekingsharvest.local". What do you get from these commands:
su - zimbra
zmlocalconfig zimbra_server_hostname ldap_url

The network captures don't help much since most of it is encrypted. Can you post a screenshot of the "SMTP Server Options"? Does Mail say anything when it times out?
