I totally understand about spending the money.

I always do an initial rsync of /opt/zimbra while Zimbra is running, then stop it and do another rsync while it's down. That at least minimizes the time the server is offline. Mine is usually down only a couple of minutes.

Zimbra uses nginx, which will require its own cert. See this wiki article on how to deploy it.

http(s) is enabled by default, depending on your proxy setup. You should be able to access it via your FQDN or server ip.

Ah, then it seems something is going on with your proxy service config. Take a look here for commands to reset it.

Sounds specific to Outlook to me. Look at /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log while you're receiving the error. Also, does the same pop account in Thunderbird or another email app on the same device work while Outlook is in error?

Zimbra and Apache on the same server don't mix very well. You should put Apache and other web hosting packages on a separate server.

Memcache and proxy are required for installation now.

The "best" backup method, Zextras, will cost some money but it's the same backup that you get with the NE version. If you're looking for a free solution then LVM snapshots and/or rsync /opt/zimbra to an external storage location is the next best thing IMO. You don't get individual backups ...

You need to download the latest 8.8.15 release and run the install.sh to upgrade from 8.8.12. At that point patches for 8.8.15 will be installed via the Zimbra repo.
