I got it working by install the Google Authenticator on a tablet instead of using the app already on my phone. Will it not work if you have gmail account already setup? Has anyone gotten it going with a Zimbra account and gmail account at the same time???

I think I would be tempted to setup a spare computer as a bind dns server for just the test zimbra server. Keep everything else in your network pointed to the real dns server.

We tested with 8.6, but just upgraded our server to 8.7. Is it worth testing again?

DNS and BIND (Albitz & Liu) shows no prohibition about having two different IPs PTR records to the same name, and actually do just that on the example on page 65 & 66 (4th edition). So, simply change the PTR from mail2.example.com to mail.example.com e.g. this would be perfectly fine: 1.249...

We have mostly given up on it. It does not seem reliable, and could not get some features working that are available for Windows.
